PETRA RICHARDS IS A FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL AWARD-WINNING ARTIST BASED IN OXFORDSHIRE.

Petra is self-taught and works primarily in coloured pencils and pastels, using various surfaces with techniques, to capture the essence of the subjects. Her art is recognised for its exceptional fine detail, vivid colours and lifelike capture. She is particularly able at bringing her subject’s soul into her portraiture though its eyes.

In the past couple of years, her works have been selected for various exhibitions, including those held by the Pastel Society, the Society of Graphic Fine Art, the Birmingham Royal Art Society, and the Chelsea Art Society where, in their annual exhibition of June of this year she won the Artists and Illustrators Magazine Award for her painting of “Grace”.

 

In December 2022, two of her Household Cavalry Horses won the first and second prizes in the Best International Coloured Pencil Artist category at the Equus Film and Art Festival in Sacramento CA. In October 2023, her drawing, ‘Drinking with Giants, The Adams Family’ was published in “CP Treasures Vol 9; Coloured Pencil Masterworks from around the globe”, a   book featuring artwork from the best 100 coloured pencil artists in the world.​​​​
