Photos
After our initial conversation, I will request reference photos, which can be provided either in hard copy or digital form. Together, we will discuss the size, composition, and cost of your piece to ensure it meets your vision. I’m happy to incorporate multiple reference photos into a single portrait if needed, as this allows for a more dynamic and personalized composition.
To ensure the highest standard of work, it’s essential that the photos provided are of good quality. In many cases, I personally travel to capture my own reference photos of the subject, covering vast distances across the UK and even abroad, to guarantee the most accurate and detailed representation.
Deposit
Once we’ve agreed upon the timescale, size, and composition, I will request a deposit of 50% of the agreed price. An invoice will be sent accordingly. This deposit helps secure your spot in my schedule and allows me to begin preparing your portrait. Work will commence only after the deposit has been received. Throughout the process, I will keep you informed with regular updates on the progress of your piece.
When the portrait is complete, I will send you a photo of the finished work. Alternatively, I’d be happy to invite you to see the piece in person, as I believe this gives a much more accurate and immersive experience of the portrait.
Whenever possible, I strongly prefer an in-person visit, as it allows you to fully appreciate the emotional depth of the portrait. My art is not just about achieving a likeness; it’s about creating a connection. Photographs can sometimes distort the true essence of a piece, as the camera may not capture the full depth of pigment or the subtle nuances that are visible to the human eye.
Framing
&Shipping
Your finished artwork will come in a mount, backed up and wrapped, should you choose not to have it framed. I use great local framers, who have a wide range of styles and experience. I don’t have set frame designs for my art, as each piece is hugely individual and personal. I usually attend the framer's, and decide which designs best fit the portrait. I will send you photos of a couple of different choices, with prices, for you to choose from. Once we decide on the frame, and you are happy with the piece, I will ask you for full payment of the remainder. Once received, the artwork is sent for framing, and is typically ready for collection within two to three weeks.
The price for national and international shipping depends on the size of your artwork and the number of pieces to be sent. I will provide you with an estimate before you pay your deposit. We will be able to track the portrait through a tracking number provided.
